8:34 am
be younger, more aggressive and comfortable. they aren't going to give up. all of that reality but my word, there is no indication that -- the giants have won five in a row and i don't see -- i don't see this machine slowing down. i don't want to jinx them by saying it's a sweep. until the giants show me they -- [inaudible] i feel really confident for them. >> i say -- they are disciplined. not who wins two first but four first. >> reporter: yes. fundamentals. they are beating them in fundamentals. they have a better defense. they will continue to even with the new line up that you will see in the tigers tonight. they are just -- they are just a little better in most of the categories. they have more depth even. >> all right. okay. we look forward to talking to you. thank you for the inexcite let's talk about the coverage because game three coverage starts at 3:30.

outside. it's going to be probably in the low 30s by late in this ball game. but it's baseball, baby! >> it is baseball. hey, i want to talk about pablo sandoval. he had obviously that historic game, game 1. game 2, he went 1 for 3, had a walk. seemed like they pitched around him a bit. and the ball park is kind of big, similar to at&t park f you're jim leland, how do you pitch pablo sandoval the next couple games? >> reporter: he's the best bad ball hitter in the world! >> that's true. >> reporter: he hit three homeruns and none of them were strikes. maybe it's right down the middle. i don't know. pablo, you know, it's incredible to think about it. he's got six homeruns total in the post season. he had just 12 all year! so he's, he's just one of those guys that you can't describe, you can't define, because he will hit anything that you throw at him and he manages to get the meat of the bat on it.
9:32 am
so he, he's a weapon right now and he's never been hotter than he is right now. >> and another weapon i think right now also that people have been talking about is the giants' defense. i mean, just executing. you mentioned it earlier on mornings on 2. blanco had those big catches in game 1. game 2, at the plate to get prince fielder. giants keep playing defense like they are, you can't beat them, seems like, fred! >> reporter: well, they are not beating themselves. that's the thing. they have won five straight games and they have done it better just being a fundamentally sound team. that's of course on defense, as you mentioned. by the way, that was a great play by marco scutaro, second baseman coming all the way over there to actually catch the ball that was overthrown by blanco, or trying to get to the shortstop crawford and overthrew crawford and scutaro was right there to make it look like it was a perfect throw. then he made just a scene to buster posey. but offensively, they are
9:33 am
fundamentally sound. they are walking when they have to take the walk. and that perfect bunt by greg blanco in game 2, you know, hitting opposite field when they have to. right now, they are just so confident and believe in each other that they figure, i don't have to win the game. i mean, think about this. they are the lowest in homerun totals in the major leagues this year. so they are not expecting to hit, you know, away for the three-run homerun. they are manufacturing runs. >> new ball park, new rules. got the dh. what are you hearing, fred? you've been on the ground there almost 24 hours. is it pablo, hector sanchez? what are you hearing? >> reporter: well, that's what i have heard. i thought it would be a no-brainer. i think we talked earlier this morning that i thought it would be pablo taking the dh and putting joaquin aireous at third base. i talked to a guy from "usa today" and he seems to think, and i think bochy's about to announce it officially. i think he's holding back a little bit here. now it seems like hector sanchez, the young catcher,

needed, what it could be used for, sergeant jd nelson with alameda county sheriff's office. what would it be used for? >> we would use it for many different types of missions, squat callouts, bomb callouts. any time a person would have a firearm in a yard, we would use that. search and rescue missions, where we have to search vast areas. we get a lot of problems with the windmills, hard to get a patrol car in those areas, very easy to deploy one of these out of the trunk of a car. >> good to cover a lot of ground from above? >> right. just gives you an eye in the sky. it's not meant for random patrolling of streets in alameda county. it's meant for mission-specific details. >> reporter: and that brings me to my next question. some groups, electronic freedom foundation, aclu, have expressed privacy concerns with this sort of device. what do you say to people who are concerned about privacy with this thing flying overhead? >> well, again, it would be for mission-specific events. so if a person has a firearm in

an area, i don't think people are going to be too upset if we fly this over that. we already have robots that are unmanned. we don't run those down the street surveilling people. again, this is for specific event. and we believe it just makes everybody in law enforcement safer. >> reporter: how is it different from a helicopter? would this replace the helicopter you have? >> well, certainly far cheaper than a helicopter, and quite honestly, these are already being used in the bay area by some news organizations, just for that reason. they are cheaper and they can be immediately deployed. helicopter's $500 an hour. this is far cheaper. >> reporter: thank you very much, jd nelson with the alameda county sheriff's office. not our news organization, as far as i know! but this model does cost about $40,000 for public safety offices to purchase it and use it, and the alameda county sheriff's office is trying to find some grant money to make that purchase. if they do get the grant money and funding, they could get one of these as early as next year.
